Some Internet scams will require that you click on a link that you believe is going to take you to one place when in reality it is downloading a malware program onto your computer. These scams can be hard to avoid. However, the best way to avoid them is to only click on links that you are 100% certain you know where they go.
Hacked Accounts Asking for Money
Hackers will sometimes hack the account of a friend or family member and steal their contacts list. They will then go and email those contacts pretending to be you. They will present a serious situation in which you need money right away and need it sent to them via a wire transfer. Before sending money to friends or family members make sure you are really sending it to them and not someone else.
Cash Check Scam
Many Internet scams require you to cash a check and send them a percentage of the money. The problem is the checks aren’t real and after you have sent them the money, the check comes back and you are required to return all of it.
